Minoxidil 5 is a vasodilator medication commonly used in product like Rogaine and Avacor, Lontem and Mintop to promote the growth or regrowth of hair.   It was first created to help treat high blood pressure.  However it was soon discovered to have an very beneficial side affect.   It has been clinically proven to grow hair!

It is available over the counter, (without a prescription).   The "5" stands for 5 percent and refers to the percentage of Minoxidil in the solution used to apply Minoxidil.
